Die Nasionale Burgerlike Veiligheid- en Sekuriteitsaksie (Nabuvsa) is ‘n nasionale teen-misdaad organisasie wat die burgerlike gemeenskap verteenwoordig. Nabuvsa is 'n nie-winsgewende, vrywillige en onafhanklike organisasie.
The National Civil Safety and Security Action (Nacissa) is a national anti-crime organisation representing civil society. Nacissa is ‘n non-profit, voluntary and independent organisation. Ons Missie / Our Mission Die missie van Nabuvsa is om deur middel van ‘n nasionale inisiatief burgers van die RSA te mobiliseer tot ‘n geïntegreerde veldtog vir die herstel van wet en orde.
The mission of Nacissa is to mobilise, by means of a national action, all citizens of the RSA to an integrated campaign for the restoration of law and order.
Hoe help ons gemeenskappe?
How do we help communities? Bemagtig gemeenskappe om proaktief teen misdaad op te tree;
Ondersteun slagoffers van misdaad;
Bevorder wetgewing vir die herstel van wet en orde; en
Tree op as waghond en spreekbuis namens die burgerlike gemeenskap oor alle aspekte van misdaad en misdaadvoorkoming.
Focus areas Empower communities The building of capacity by means of proactive training and awareness programmes form the basis of this activity. Communities are assisted to organise themselves to fight crime in their respective areas. Specific programmes (from basic to advanced contingency plans) that meet the requirement of a particular community, are implemented. | Victim support The aftermath of every crime is inevitably the resulting trauma and loss to the victim and members of his/her family. The programme for victim support entails the following: - care and counselling of victims of crime;
- care of persons in distress resulting from crime;
- provide urgent financial assistance; and
- provide legal support
| Policy and legislation Challenge by means of litigation, lobbying and all forms of legitimate social mobilisation any barrier that limits or impedes the restoration of law and order. Regular inputs to draft legislation as well as the delivery of testimony to the particular parliamentary standing community on safety and security forms the basis of this focus area. | Strategic management Nacissa is a national public benefit organisation. The organisation contri-butes to the knowledge and debate about crime prevention, law enforcement and criminal justice in South Africa. Nacissa acts as ‘watch dog' on crime on behalf of civil society. Nacissa will continue to collaborate and enter into mutual agreements with a wide range of stake holders, such as communities, NGO's, business and civil entities. | |
